Fundamentals of Blockchain Technology

Building Trust, Transparency and Innovation in the Digital Economy

Discover how blockchain, smart contracts, tokenization and decentralized technologies are transforming financial services, supply chains, government and the global digital economy.

Program Overview

Blockchain technology has emerged as one of the most significant technological innovations of the twenty-first century, fundamentally changing the way organizations record, verify and exchange information. Originally developed to support digital currencies, blockchain has evolved into a transformative platform for banking, trade finance, supply chain management, healthcare, digital identity, government services and numerous other sectors requiring secure, transparent and decentralized record-keeping.

The Fundamentals of Blockchain Technology module has been developed by GenevaTech Business School (GTBS) as the third module of the Professional Diploma in Digital Finance. The course introduces participants to the principles of distributed ledger technology, cryptographic security, consensus mechanisms, smart contracts and tokenization, while examining practical business applications across multiple industries. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding blockchain from a strategic and managerial perspective rather than a software engineering perspective.

Delivered through the GenevaTech Applied Learning Model (GALM™), the module combines interactive lectures, practical demonstrations, AI-supported learning activities, industry case studies and applied exercises. Participants will gain the confidence to evaluate blockchain opportunities, understand emerging business models and make informed decisions regarding blockchain adoption within their organizations.

The 4-week hybrid course is led by Dr. Shoaib Zafar, CFA, CAIA, an accomplished fund manager whose doctoral expertise lies in digital asset blockchain governance. By seamlessly integrating traditional finance (TradFi) with decentralized finance (DeFi), Dr. Zafar provides attendees with a unique, forward-looking market perspective. Designed to turn theoretical literacy into decisive execution, this program equips you with the exact skills needed to independently evaluate, navigate, and manage digital asset ecosystems.
