Fundamentals of FinTech

Understanding the Digital Transformation of Financial Services

Explore how technology is revolutionizing banking, payments, lending, wealth management and financial innovation through practical applications, AI-enabled tools and real-world industry case studies.

Program Overview

Financial Technology (Fintech) has transformed the global financial services industry, creating new business models, improving customer experiences, expanding financial inclusion, and reshaping the competitive landscape of banking and finance. Technologies such as cloud computing, mobile banking, digital payments, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Open Banking, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), blockchain, and embedded finance are redefining how financial products and services are developed, delivered, and consumed.

The Fundamentals of FinTech module provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to the FinTech ecosystem and the technologies driving digital financial innovation. Designed by GenevaTech Business School (GTBS) as the second module of the Professional Diploma in Digital Finance, the course bridges traditional financial services with emerging digital technologies, enabling participants to understand how financial institutions, technology companies, regulators, and startups are transforming the future of finance.

The participants will explore practical applications of digital banking, payment systems, lending platforms, wealth management, regulatory technology (RegTech), InsurTech, and AI-driven financial services. Through interactive discussions, practical laboratories, industry case studies, and a hands-on capstone project, participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to evaluate and implement FinTech solutions within their own organizations.

Fundamentals of Fintech is a 4-week hybrid course led by distinguished investor Dr. Shoaib Zafar, CFA, CAIA. Designed to translate foundational financial literacy into decisive market execution, this program provides the tools necessary to navigate the modern digital finance landscape. Attendees will complete the course equipped with the skills and confidence to independently identify, evaluate, and integrate advanced fintech applications into professional practice.
